Gallery: Social Equity in Tall Timber

Instructor: Warren Techentin

This heavy timber constructed building is located in Leimert Park, California: a community with a history of celebrating black culture. This social justice center focuses on equity, community engagement, and sustainability. Double height spaces, a central courtyard, and lower level publicly programed spaces foster a greater sense of community. The buildings slenderness allows for naturally ventilated office spaces. Ultimately, the project is to be thought of as a scaffold which can support any future action.
