Opposition

Venice beach is defined by its sand. Wide, open spaces, soothing and soft textures, contrasting its hard and dense surroundings we call LA. With the topography of the sand dunes in mind, I used its curved features to be represented in my structure. On the other hand, with my surface build from the ground, I decided to represent its past and its present by leaving indentations of where it once was before it was peeled into its shown upright position. With my structure curved, and my surface angled, the contrast between one another helped create spaces for people to have more opportunities than what they could normally experience on the beach.
