Model Inhabitants

The Venturi house plays with the symbolism of domesticity in a tacking-on manner. Just as the same way how the venturi house tacked on the image of domesticity that carries certain connotations, the tacked-on accessible hardwares are also symbolic; they become a symbol of disability, which conveys the message that someone disabled is living in the house, and also the marginalization of the disabled community. The project rethinks what is tacked onto what by reconsidering the scale of the parts to neutralize the symbolism of accessibility, so the house does not look accessible, but instead looks domestic while functioning in an accessible and incredibly experiential way.
