Looking Glass

The Looking Glass is an underground pavilion and metro station that strives to evoke the sense of lucidity and vastness of space. Both functions are achieved through the implementation of light wells, which establish visual connections between the ground, mezzanine and concourse levels: a key feature that diminishes the traditionally claustrophobic environment of the underground rail system. The project acknowledges the strategic significance of the site — the flatness of the ground level intends not to divide, but further strengthen the relations of the Little Tokyo and the Arts District both visually and physically.
