A community center provides a range of functions that a community can benefit from and cherish, and with this it is important to successfully integrate the building into the neighborhood of Leimert Park in order to have a positive impact. By means of material choices and program organization, the Leimert Park Community center focuses on visibility and accessibility as a way to allow for the community to physically see and access the positive activities that the community center holds. Skylights and an open-air second level, along with a open-air multipurpose space on the first level, create an environment that is quite receptive of the surroundings and welcomes the residents of Leimert Park to use its spaces in flexible and productive ways.
