Exploration of Curves

Each house has its own approach in utilizing curves as a tool to define spaces. Yolanthe designed a dwelling for a musician, and Imani’s client was a muralist. The house of the musician expresses curves in an expanded form so as to take up land, while the muralist’s home utilizes curves in a way that creates certain spatial experiences within a compact volume. Furthermore, the curves are applied in a manner that organizes the flows and separations between the public and private spaces on the site. The houses share a curved wall that creates a courtyard separate from the public concert and gallery space.
