Creative Community Cluster

This artist community/art park progresses through various sensory experiences and takes the visitor on a journey through sound, touch, and sight. The site plan was organized around a path that was defined by a grid and the buildings were placed in response to the path. The path bisects each building, dividing it into work and rest spaces while also creating public exhibition spaces. The land was divided evenly between each building to create separate small lots where each of the buildings would intentionally not touch each other, but instead, be connected conceptually. Each building lies on different grade changes that reflect that artist’s need; an underground chamber is optimal for acoustics, the staggered elevation allows sculptures to be seen from many angles, and the highest elevation allows for broad, landscape views for painting.
