ARCH 302B: Architectural Design III Gallery: Re-thinking the LA industrial vernacular and the long span tradition

Community Center at Leimert Part

The project explores how to spark activities at the Leimert Part, the African cultural hub in LA, by observing how the local use the public space. Atriums and courtyards are introduced to spark activities. The ground is freed up to allow the continuity of the groud level, where the community carries its day-to-day activities. The structures are designed to achieve sustainability by using double skin facade and earth duct system.
