Collageyard

Primitive shapes are layered on top of one another in order to create a plan view that resembles a collage. These primitive shapes were then shifted, overlapped, and intersected in order to create a series of courtyards that imbue the site with a sense of porosity and allow for nearly unrestricted movement throughout the space. Each structure depends on at least one other structure to form this series of irregularly shaped courtyards that are juxtaposed with the primitive shapes of the structures. The ground is carved in a way that funnels individuals down and towards the large central courtyards, creating a subtle division between the public and private space of the site.
