Collaboration and Community: Leimert Park

Located on the lower west side of Leimert Park, this housing initiative provides a space built for promoting culture and community. With a vast open courtyard and various terraces, activities such as cultural festivals, fairs, and speaker events can be accommodated. In addition to the housing units, numerous retail spaces, from a convenience store to a pharmacy to a cafe, are included on the ground level to supplement daily living. A three-story gymnasium/recreation center is also positioned adjacent to the housing complex for fitness needs.

In regards to housing, units are spread from a range between 1-5 person homes. These units include shared outdoor areas to further promote community between the residents. By spreading the housing between three levels of access, with the upper units including a mezzanine level, space is efficiently managed to provide maximum housing area while still maintaining a balance between open or public areas and dwelling spaces.
