Art Plaza Building

After our examination on two way steel trusses, I created a system with steel tubular columns inspired by Sendai Mediatheque that supports my steel trusses. These columns create habitable space in each level in my 3 story shed. My goal was creating a transparent and bright space that invites the community to unite and I used curtain walls and skylights to create that atmosphere. My main idea was creating a circulation pathway throughout the building where the adjacent wall skin becomes art murals that represents African American community. Therefore, the whole circulation acts as an art exhibition and the roof space becomes a sculpture garden.
