ARCH 102B Final Project

The semester began with found figure ground drawings and which evolved into source material for shape-making and proposals for new tectonic definitions of three mythological primitives: the cave, the hut and the tent. Now, as the studio’s final assignment, propose an arrangement of your three pavilions and the site that surrounds them on a 9,500 square foot slice of beach, bike path and gravel parking lot in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Venice (see below.) Consider the assembly and sequence of spaces on the interior and exterior of your pavilions, the material implications of the different types of ground on the site and the programmatic intention of each pavilion. Use the below program guidelines to aid in the development of your pavilions and site design.
