ARCH 302A: Architectural Design III Gallery: Co-op City – Housing for the Collective Good: From Minimal Dwelling to Maximal Housing

Access at 4299 McClung Drive

In prioritizing demographics as a topic of research, my team members and I were able to pinpoint three factors that could be directly addressed by our cooperative: food security, shared resources, and education. What this then led to was a focus on housing as a means to cover these issues, so it was necessary to find a building system that both contained and contributed to accessibility, shared resources, and some type of education. This resulted in utilizing universal accessibility as a means of design for both physical configurations as well as what it means for a space to be truly universally accessible.
