Unearthing MacArthur Park

My project is called Unearthing MacArthur Park and is about a park that embraces both the ecological and the social in the heart of Westlake. “Unearthing” here refers to both the physical excavation done to make space for a flatter, more accessible park, and to the process of learning that the park promotes. I created a community space for the residents of Westlake that celebrates MacArthur Park’s existing uses and combines them with new uses – as well as celebrates existing ecology by preserving over 150 trees, while combining them with a new, native palette.
