Quarry Afterlives

This project is aimed to explore the “strange place” and seeking opportunities to connect the afterlives of humans and the afterlives of the quarries. A series of quarries, dams, flooding plains were constructed near the starting point of the San Gabriel River, Los Angeles. Those infrastructures provide essential resources for city development but also changed the landscape profile. The inactive quarries stand for the end of the excavation process but also present new opportunities. This project proposed to combine the human decompose process and the restoration process of the abandoned quarry, and to construct an advanced green network for this industrial complex.
