Interlocking Patchwork

The proposal continues the design research from the previous design project. Using the duplex house diagram as a point of departure, semi-attached L-block units are multiplied and arranged in clusters of shared communal and private outdoor spaces, like a patchwork quilt of sorts. Oversized shed roofs with various slopes and orientation further define these spaces, providing different levels of light and shade, enclosure, and privacy between the units. A community space and retail space are intended to serve the residents and neighborhood.
