Green House

This project is located in Boyle Heights and after some research, I determined that Boyle Heights was a food desert. To deal with this Green House is a communal urban farming community taking advantage of the weather in Los Angeles and the variety of foods that can grow here. Aligned along a central east-west axis of citrus trees, the units are arranged to form courtyards between the units to allow for recreation and farming space. Planter boxes are fit in between units and the modularity of the units allows for planters to be tucked into the unit’s footprint. On the edge of the lot, a playground is included. Both the farm and playground are meant to be used by the larger nearby community.
