The area of Glendale where the Verdugo Mountains approach the Santa Monica Mountains is about to be redeveloped. It features job sources like Disney and DreamWorks, and attractions like the Glendale Riverwalk and the LA Equestrian Center. New projects, including a train station, are in the works. The Los Angeles area has a housing crisis which creates high housing costs and homelessness. A series of housing developments, modeled after the Village Green in Los Angeles and Lafayette Park in Detroit, could help solve the housing problem and link two critical habitats. The design features mixed-income, mixed-density and mixed-use housing with shared green space creating a positive environment for humans, plants, and animals alike.
