Exploding the Blocks

Currently, 90% of the residents of Burbank and Glendale do not have accessibility to any kind of public open space. In addition, the Southern California housing shortage threatens the environmental quality of the cities since developments are inching future into the urban wild land interface, destroying natural areas, fueling heat island effects and wildfires. By Exploding the Blocks, it is possible to increase the permeable area and reduce the heat island effect, while promoting equity and a healthier environment that is walkable and dense, while preserving the character of Southern California housing.
