ARCH 605A: Graduate Architecture Design II Gallery: USC Village International House

Breaking the Box

By initially manipulating existing shapes of buildings in the USC village through the playing of the game Dots and Boxes, this international house fosters a strong sense of community
with a mixing a dorm rooms, micro-apartments, and gathering spaces in uniquely shaped spaces unlike anything else seen in the village. The cluster style of unit groupings create pockets of
neighbors each with their own indoor or outdoor public shared spaces with a much larger common space unifying the building in the center of the site.
