Arches & Misfits

Arches and Misfits, a (29,500 sqf and three stories) working space on the edge of Chinatown, mixes cross-laminated timber (CLT) technology with a classic architectural structural type- the arch. Since the arch can be deployed in an infinite number of formal orientations and scales, the project is transformed into a tangle or collision of structural fields. The “mis-fits” that result from these collisions, become meta-programs, which add richness and diversity to the co-working program.
